In the last 18 months, more than a dozen teachers in Western New York have been arrested on or convicted of a variety of sexual offense charges involving children - a rate far higher than in previous periods, according to a survey of media reports.
Most of the cases involve direct sexual contact with children, in many cases, repeatedly.
