Female Teacher Sentenced To Prison For Affair With Student

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. -- A former social studies teacher at Ponderosa High School in Parker was sentenced to two years in prison and 10 years in a sexual offender probation program for having an affair with a teenage student.

She would also allow him to "monitor" her class, instead of going to his other classes, and then would go into the school's computer system to change his "unexcused" absences for his other classes to "excused," prosecutors said. This was "a sign of grooming" -- a signal of sex abuse, prosecutors said.

Teacher's aide charged with sex abuse



A teacher's assistant has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a 16-year-old student at Wyandanch Memorial High School in Wyandanch, Suffolk police said yesterday.

Torrence K. Lewis, 40, of Davidson Street, Wyandanch, was charged with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child late Tuesday night.

SARASOTA -- A judge denied James LaMorte Sr.'s third bid Monday to get the sexual assault charges against him thrown out.

Twelfth Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Robert Bennett ruled that the state can go to trial Monday to prosecute the former Venice High School teacher and coach on allegations that he sexually abused two former students.
LaMorte, 63, is charged two counts of sexual assault on a victim over 12 and two counts of lewd and lascivious acts in the presence of a child under 16.
