Teacher must face abuse charges, judge rules again

SARASOTA -- A judge denied James LaMorte Sr.'s third bid Monday to get the sexual assault charges against him thrown out.

Twelfth Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Robert Bennett ruled that the state can go to trial Monday to prosecute the former Venice High School teacher and coach on allegations that he sexually abused two former students.
LaMorte, 63, is charged two counts of sexual assault on a victim over 12 and two counts of lewd and lascivious acts in the presence of a child under 16.
