Teen held in shooting bragged about his troubles

Eric Hainstock was abused as a child

Eric Hainstock, 15, told police he strode into Weston Schools before classes started Friday with a shotgun and a revolver and gunned down Principal John Klang because Hainstock was upset with a reprimand Klang had given him and teachers hadn't stopped a group of kids he claimed was harassing him, according to a criminal complaint.

According to the complaint, Eric Hainstock was upset with Klang because the day before the shooting the principal had given him a disciplinary notice for having tobacco. He also was unhappy because he felt Klang and teachers had taken no action against a group of kids who had called him gay and rubbed up against him.

Hainstock told a friend the principal wouldn't make it through homecoming, the complaint said.
