Rolling Green teacher's abuse trial postponed for tests on letters

The trial of a former Rolling Green Elementary School music teacher accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with an 11-year-old has been postponed so that DNA tests can be conducted on two letters recently found taped underneath the woman's desk.

Flannigan, 50, could face life in prison if convicted of capital sexual battery. Authorities allege that beginning in June 2002, Flannigan began a sexual relationship with the boy, who was once her student. Flannigan is also accused of simultaneously carrying on an affair with the child's father, according to court documents related to a civil lawsuit brought by the boy's parents.
