Teacher charged in student sex abuse case



LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Kentuckiana high school teacher has been charged with sexually abusing a student. Bullitt County detectives started investigating after being tipped off by Child Protective Services.

According to Bullitt County investigators, Lands had inappropriate sexual contact with a 16-year-old girl.

"Where this becomes a crime is that he's a person of authority that being a coach or teacher or someone like that with a student," said Lt. Scotty McGaha of the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office.

McGaha said the alleged sexual encounter happened once at Bullitt Central and that investigators have confiscated text messages and emails between the two that contained graphic content.
